For some bizzare reason, the weather where I live now is boiling hot. Not how it should be at this time of year, but there you go.
So, with that in mind, I’ve found two of my favourite iced coffee recipes for you to try out. Cool, delicious and guaranteed to beat the heat.
Classic Iced Coffee Vietnamese Style
This I first tried in my travels to Vietnam earlier this year. Its definitely on the sweet side, but oh so good! You can top it with crushed ice for added coolness, but if watered-down coffee isnt your cup of tea, try freeing some of the leftover brew into ice cubes, and adding it in before serving.
5 cups strong brewed coffee
1/2 can sweetened condensed milk
Mix brewed coffee and condensed milk in a pitcher / container.
Put in the refrigerator until chilled.
Serve over or below ice *Or alternatively, do it like the locals and pour the condensed milk into a glass forst, then the chilled coffee over it. Add ice and serve. Spiced Thai Iced Coffee I am a lover of all things spicy, especially exotic drinks laced with cinnamon and cardamom. For an even more sultry feel, you can add a dash of ground coriander as well-:
- Ground strong coffeeGround cinnamonGround cardamom
Almond Extract
Cream, milk or condensed milk
Cinnamon stick for garnish
Add the spices to the ground coffee and brew.
Add almond extract and sugar (if using – not necessary if using condensed milk) Cool in the refrigerator until chilled.
Pour over ice, add milk of choice.
Serve with a cinnamon stick!
