Did you know that in Constantinople (what is now known as Istanbul) a woman could divorce her husband for failing to keep the family Ibrik or coffee pot filled? If this old Turkish Law were still in effect and applied in more countries, there would be a lot of divorced women on the globe.
Coffee assumed a social importance. This beverage may not be flashy or knock anyone out but it has a way of creeping into ones heart and soul and becoming simply unforgettable. You simply get accustomed to having it as a part of your daily life.
Though coffee may no longer have as much power as it used to in social situations, its popularity has by no means faded out. Thankfully coffee no longer determines whether a man will choose you for a mate nor if it is time to kick him out. We can simply savor the taste of this delicious brew and imagine the days gone by.
