These include the espresso, capuccino, mocha, French vanilla, Americano, caffe latte, hazelnut, Turkish and Machiato among others.
So which is the most popular type of coffee today?
Capuccino
There’s no doubt that capuccino is one of the most popular coffee flavors today particularly in the west. Unknown to some people, though, it was originally an Italian coffee beverage prepared using espresso, hot milk and hot steamed milk foam. It is said to have been created ideally for people who liked to have cream in their coffee.
French Vanilla
This is considered one of the most popular coffee flavors worldwide. It features a delectable flavor that adds a different kind of sweetness to any medium or light roast coffee. The best part is it can be combined with caramel or hazelnut to achieve a latte, macchiato.
Macchiato
Derived from the Italian word which means spotted or stained, the caffee maccchiato is made up of steamed milk and espresso. Served either ot or cold, it boasts of a strong coffee flavor and is often combined with caramel. This combination has earned the drink the title “peanut butter and jelly” of coffee.
Another version of this is known as latte macchiato which features milk with a spot of espresso. This is quite similar to the caffe latte.
Also called espresso macchiato, this drink is normally served with a small drop of milk. Nowadays, however, the milk is foamed first before being added to the coffee drink.
Caffe Latte
Latte is simply an espresso with steamed milk. What makes it different from the rest is its foam which should ideally be one centimeter. Through this foam, a barista can already create various art work or designs. Today, the most common latte designs are the swirls, ferns and hearts. However, the more creative barista should be able to make more complex desrigns.
Americano
Cafe Americano or simply Americano is espresso with an addition of hot water. By adding hot water to an espresso, the caffeine in the drink is made milder but the espresso flavor is retained. Did you know that American coffee has the same level of caffeine as the drip coffee you get from your home coffee maker? Depending on your personal preference, you can always decide on the strength of your coffee.
