When you walk up to a counter and order a cup of coffee, you normally receive it in a plastic one if it is a cold drink. If you ordered your brew hot, youd receive a paper cup to hold your drink. As most people have found, the paper cups dont travel well. It can really throw off your day to have coffee drips on your clothes and on your cars upholstery.
Most people therefore ask for an extra cup. At least this way, if the first cups seam fails there is another one to catch it. Hooray! No unsightly coffee stains.
This practice however is very environmentally unfriendly. Just imagine how many cups of coffee get consumed everyday. Starbucks alone reports that they sell over 1.9 billion cups a year. Thats a whole lot of trees!
Well, Starbucks is trying out some new cups. These are supposedly sturdier and thick enough to keep their clients from being burned without the second cup.. Most people arent thrilled about the fact that the cups are made with 10% post-consumer recycled paper. I guess this is the price of fast food coffee.
Thank goodness that they still have the bring your own cup promo. You not only get a discount on your coffee, you can drink it from a mug that you are comfortable with. Plus, you definitely wont need to worry about how to hold it or if it will spill since it is your own personal mug. Who knows, your mug may even strike up an interesting conversation with someone.
