Coffee is a favorite morning drink of many adults. For these folks, it’s a must to start their day with a hot cup of coffee whether black or with cream. Sipping this drink or its smell alone already energizes them making them ready to begin their tasks for the day. Some people, however, also love to have a cup of their caffeinated drink during their afternoon breaks or in the evening particularly after dinner.
A cup of coffee is best paired with a light food. Normally, pastries such as cakes and cookies or biscuits are their best partner. But if you want to know what other foods go well with this all-time favorite drink, we share some of them here.
French Toast
Instead of just pairing your coffee with plain toast, a French toast or what others call an eggy bread or float would be a better and tastier option. Simply slice your bread thickly, whip up an egg with some milk and soak your bread there before frying them using a small amount of butter. Once done, you can then sprinkle the bread with powdered sugar.
Grains Snacks
If you love grains such as oats, chia seeds, flax and whole grains, you are free to enjoy them as snacks while having your coffee. The packed clusters that come with various flavors are strongly recommended. They contain five types of non-GMO grains and while they can be eaten solo, with yogurt or fruit cup, they go well with your caffeinated drink as well.
Tim Tams
Did you know that the famous Tim Tam chocolate biscuit goes great with coffee? In fact, there’s a tradition on how this biscuit should be eaten with the drink – by eating first either end then sucking coffee through the wafered core.
Sandwich
A sandwich notably one with bacon, cheese and egg also goes well with coffee. However, you can choose your own filling depending on your mood for the day.
Stroopwafel
The stroopwafel is another great food to go with coffee. Traditionally, this one is placed atop the coffee cup and then softens up and curls over the edges as it absorbs the coffee’s heat and aroma.
Trifle
Perhaps many of you won’t imagine pairing your coffee with a dessert dish but it can be done. The trifle which features a layer of diced fruits (pear, strawberry), chocolate, custard, pralines, fruit juice or syrup then topped with whipped cream is highly recommended.
